What to Ask When You Pick Up Your Child From MecKidz!

October 5, 2025

When you pick your child up from MecKidz, there are SO many things that you can ask to be intentional about what your child learned! Check out the link below to hear a cool story from one mom about how this went for her.

Have you ever picked up your kid from MecKidz and, without even thinking, you ask the same two questions:

  1. Did you have fun?
  2. What did you learn?

It never fails that in the hustle and bustle, we usually stop at that. We jump in the car and move on with our week.

Recently, we heard a story from a MecKidz mom who wanted to be more intentional about what their child was learning in MecKidz. Here’s what happened:

Mom: Hey buddy! Tell me more about that Bible story you heard yesterday in MecKidz?

Son: Oh Mama, there was this man who stored up everything he owned in barns. He had so much stuff that he needed two really big barns! And then…the man died!

Mom: Oh wow!! So what did that teach you about God??

Son: That if I love God just a little bit more, he’ll let me take my stuff with me to Heaven!

Mom: Oh noooo buddy. (insert jaw drop)

Moral of the story? Our kids don’t often get what it is we are trying to teach! Every week when you pick up your children from MecKidz, this is what we recommend asking instead:

  1. Tell me about the Bible story today.
  2. What does that tell us about God?
  3. What does that tell us about us?
  4. (And of course…) What was the most fun in MecKidz today? (because we believe that church should never be boring!)

Now, what if we aren’t sure if our child’s answers are right?  Well, we’ve got your back! Check out the “This week in MecKidz” section on our app where we have YouTube videos, home guides, and more to help partner with you as you lead your child to know, love, and serve Jesus.
