Be Still and Know

You’ve likely heard the phrase, “Be still and know that I am God.” This beautiful message from God Himself is found in Psalm 46:10 and is brought to life in countless stories of the Bible where God is not found in loud, sweeping movements, but in the quiet promptings we feel when we humble ourselves before Him.

But what does that look like practically? How are we to be still amid a never-ending to-do list and a fast-paced life? And when we do stop and listen, what are we listening for? How do we know we are doing it right? How can we distinguish the voice of God from our own desires?

In the 4th installment of “The Well-Ordered Life” Study, we will explore the practices of silence and solitude. Through an examination of the Bible, the writings of the early Church Fathers and Mothers, and by way of a lot of clumsy practice, we will begin to train our hearts, minds, and souls to be still in God’s presence and to listen for His voice.
