Prayer is really the greatest gift that God has given us. It is our direct connection to Him and with Him. At Meck, we believe prayer to be a vital addition to any family and MecKidz is here to partner with you, every step of the way.

What is Prayer?

Christians believe it is a conversation with a living God. Direct communication with the creator of the cosmos who knows and loves you. The Bible describes prayer as powerful, an act that invites the power of the living God to bear on your life.

So… how do you do it? When do you do it? Do you do it as a family? Or privately? Or both? Can we suggest 3 ways to bring prayer into your family?

Pray privately for your children when you first wake up.

If you believe God exists, then praying for your kids is the BEST gift you can give them! Begin each day with a prayer for them.

We are so convinced prayer matters, that we developed a Meck Institute class designed to teach parents how to pray for their kids.

Here is a simple prayer that you can prayer for your children to tuck in your Bible. Praying the Scriptures for your Children and Every Season Sacred are also great resources available in the Grounds.
Pray as a family before a meal.

For older kids: Try choosing a different person each night to pray. Be sure to give permission for short prayers. (One of our favorites is “Dear Lord Jesus, thank you for this food. Amen”)

For younger kids: Learn a mealtime song prayer like Thanks for the Food.
Pray with your kids every night at bedtime.

For older kids: Try using the Five Finger Prayer guide to teach your child prayer.

For younger kids: Try one of our favorite bedtime prayers to pray over your kids as you tuck them in. God Our Father and Johnny Appleseed.
