The Church (Big Picture Bible Study)

Following the resurrection of Jesus, a strange phenomenon occurred. The small movement of ordinary Jewish men and women that was meant to have been squashed by the death of their supposed Messiah was suddenly transformed into a bold group of witnesses that began a community that would forever change the world. In this 5-week series of the Big Picture Bible Study, we’ll discuss the importance of the Holy Spirit and track the launch and growth of the early Church. We will also meet a man named Paul and talk about how he played a pivotal role in the early church and still continues to impact us today.This class is offered at two separate times: Thursdays, beginning May 30 at 10 a.m., in person and live streamed (no class on 6/20 or 7/4) Mondays, beginning June 3 at 7 p.m., online (no class on 6/17) *Participants can also opt to receive the class recordings rather than attend the live classes.NOTE: The Big Picture Bible Study is an in-depth, chronological study of the whole Bible. In its entirety, it comprises 10 separate studies spread out over a two-year time frame. "The Church" is the eighth study in the series, but new students will get caught up in the first week.

It also serves as our membership class where you can learn more about joining our mission to help spiritual explorers become fully devoted followers of Christ.Meck is made up of people from many different spiritual backgrounds; some with extensive church backgrounds, others who are brand new to church and many in between. Knowing this, we designed the class to clearly explain the history and heart of Meck, and what it means to be a member.There are both online and in person options for this class.

THIS CLASS IS FULL. This class will walk kids through the story of the Bible using games, activities, and crafts. We will take a look at why God gave us the Bible, what we can learn about Him from it, how it all fits together, and what we should do with it. There is also an online version of this class that will take place July 22 - 24 from 7 - 8 p.m. NOTE: This class is designed for the grade your child will be in Fall 2024.

Case for Christ (4th - 6th Grade)

THIS CLASS IS FULL.  Kids will become detectives and journey alongside an investigative journalist to unearth the truth about Jesus at a level they can understand. We will explore if we can trust the Bible and know the resurrection story is true, and we'll give space for all of the great questions kids have at this age! NOTE: This class is designed for the grade your child will be in Fall 2024.

During this class, we will bring some of the biggest Bible stories to life to give kids a concrete idea of how amazing our God actually is! THIS CLASS IS FULL. Kids will learn to use live-action movie-making skills to create a video that dives into one of Jesus’ parables. They'll explore how Jesus’s stories can tell us more about Him, and they'll create a short movie using their own creativity and video skills to bring a parable to life. NOTE: This class is designed for the grade your child will be in Fall 2024.

The Purpose and Practice of Prayer

The fact that we can talk to God is pretty amazing when you think about it. But the mechanics of speaking to someone we cannot see can seem awkward at times. Is God even listening? What am I supposed to say? Should I be waiting for some kind of reply? In this in-person class, we'll spend three consecutive days learning about prayer and various prayer practices, and then we'll also carve out time to workshop what we're learning.

Christianity and Other Worldviews

In this year-long series, we'll discuss the core beliefs of various faith systems throughout the world. We’ll talk about evaluating truth claims, we’ll compare and contrast them with Christianity, and we’ll learn how to build bridges with adherents of other religions.This past Spring we discussed Islam and Judaism. In this summer course, we’ll tackle Mormonism and Jehovah’s Witnesses, and then we’ll wrap up with Eastern religions, contemporary spirituality, and postmodernism in the Fall.NOTE: This is an online class. Class recordings will be available for registrants.
