The Grounds Online Book Club: "The Hiding Place: Young Readers Edition"
Every Monday, from 07/20/2020 to 08/10/2020, 7:00 PM - 8:15 PM
Children usually dread the idea of "summer reading", but in this book club, they'll get the chance to hop on an amazing adventure as they're transported to a Nazi concentration camp to follow the true story of Corrie ten Boom.
Over 4 weeks, we'll read "The Hiding Place: Young Reader's Edition" by Corrie ten Boom, a true story that took place during World War II, and we'll have an interactive discussion as we learn from her and the remarkable faith she found in the most unlikely of places.
This online book club is designed for children ages 9-12. The book is available at TheGroundsAtMeck.com, and they'll need to read the first 4 chapters before the first meeting.
"Darkness has fallen over Europe as the Nazis spread hatred, fear and war across the globe. But on a quiet city corner in the Netherlands, one woman fights against the darkness. In her quiet watchmaking shop, she and her family risk their lives to hide Jews, and others hunted by the Nazis, in a secret room, a 'hiding place' that they built in the old building.
One day, however, Corrie and her family are betrayed. They're captured and sent to the notorious Nazi concentration camps to die. Yet even in that darkest of places, Corrie still fights.
This is her story--and the story of how faith, hope and love ultimately triumphed over unthinkable evil."
