OPPORTUNITY
Child Sex Slavery and Child sex trafficking is a major issue in the world today. There is an extreme injustice to millions of young women and children that must be addressed, especially within the Christian community. Meck has an exciting opportunity to make a real difference on the front lines in Cebu. The International Justice Mission is standing at the ready to go into the brothels to free those young women and children, and My Refuge House is who they turn to for providing the aftercare facility. Through your gifts to the Unhindered Campaign, Meck was able to provide the money to build a home for My Refuge House for the care of these girls. The ministry team Meck will send to Cebu will be able to work with these girls, reaching out to them where they are through the arts and one on one relationships. Those that are of age (and of interest) will be able to see firsthand the red-light district; a further reinforcement of just why Meck chose to be involved in this endeavor. They will also be able to work hands-on with the house that is being constructed to truly turn it into a home – a place where they can feel safe. This will undoubtedly be a life-changing experience for all those involved.
COST
Approximately $2500 per team member depending on the final cost of the flight to Cebu.
WHO CAN PARTICIPATE
Any member of the church is welcome to participate.
NUMBER OF PARTICIPANTS
The team can include anywhere from a minimum of 4 to a maximum of 12 participants. Should there be more than 12 people interested in going on this trip, a second trip can be developed.
COMMITMENT
The cost and length of the trip. Additional days are required for this trip as you lose so much time in travel. All participants must sign a statement of faith as well as a liability statement provided by My Refuge House.
