Jon says his spiritual life could be summed up like this, “I was basically living what the world would call ‘the life of a ‘good person’, but I knew I needed to make a change.” Lauren agrees when discussing her spiritual life, “About two years ago I asked myself, ‘What do I really believe?’ I had heard a lot of about God and Jesus growing up but I was living life selfishly and I wanted complete control of everything I did, and I wanted God to answer my prayers on my terms. I had been looking for satisfaction and fulfillment in other places.” So what was it about Meck that brought them back each week? Lauren says, “Meck was a breath of fresh air for me. The atmosphere and people were so welcoming! The contemporary style of worship definitely caught my attention because it was very similar to the church I left in California and I didn’t expect to find that here. I also thought it was great and original to have staff in the parking lot serving hot cocoa!!” Jon adds, “Basically, I kept coming back because I felt like I would learn something here that I hadn't heard before. Each message is like a light bulb being turned on in my head.” So how would they describe their spiritual journey now? “Pursuing a spiritual life at Meck has opened my eyes to what being a true Christian means. I know that prior to attending Meck I had not fully committed myself to Christ and was only going through the motions. This is something I still struggle with but feel that because I am learning so much and understanding more and more about Christianity, it is guiding me in the right direction towards the path I need to follow with God.” And that’s a great path to be on.
